THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPE SAFFRON (P Mxoli) and REFLECTIVE (M van Rensburg) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RED SPARROW (J Gates) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Jockey P Mxoli, the rider of CAPE SAFFRON, briefly dropped his left-side rein at the 200m. c) Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of NKWENKWEZI , misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey K Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R4000 was imposed. d) CAPE SAFFRON (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise , acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON HAD NO REPORTS.
