Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARIOVISTUS (C Zackey) took an awkward stride leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start GLOBAL SPEAK (S Veale) and HAWAII TRACTOR (C Little) had to be checked when tightened for galloping room between MOMENT OF TRUTH (M Winnaar), which was carried in marginally by AFRIQUE (G Lerena) and DRICUS (C Orffer), which shifted out away from ARIOVISTUS (C Zackey), which after taking an awkward stride leaving the stalls, made contact with JET A ONE (J Solomons) and then shifted outwards. After reviewing this incident, the Stewards were of the opinion that no individual Rider could be held accountable for this incident. b) TOWNSMAN (*S Bungane) raced very wide on the turn and into the straight. c) MONKEY PUZZLE (K Matsunyane) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J de Villiers) d) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of TUNGUSKA he misused his crop by striking TUNGUSKA more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey A Fortune signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. e) SHOW OFF, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
