Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SLAINTE MHATH (MK Katjedi) was stubborn loading and slow into stride. b) SAN QUINTIN (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. c) HAARLEM (R Fourie) and RAINBOW OF ROSES (E Webber) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SLAINTE MHATH (MK Katjedi) was buffeted between HOME REEF (L Mxothwa), which jumped outwards slightly and EUPHORIC (*N Baboo), which jumped in shortly after the start. b) HOME REEF (L Mxothwa) was carried slightly inwards when SAN QUINTIN (K Minnie) shifted inwards at approximately the 250m. c) In view of the performance of HAARLEM (R Fourie) (Betting 18/10; Distance 11 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Trainer SB Kotzen was questioned with regard to the improved performance of SLAINT MHATH. She explained to the Board that this gelding had kicked the back gates of the starting stalls at its previous race on 21 March 2025 and this might have accounted for its below par performance on that date. The Board noted her explanation and advised that they will monitor this horse's behaviour when loaded in the stalls in future engagements. e) SLAINTE MHATH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
