THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BREEZE OVER (M Yeni) was slow losing one length and thereafter slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 250m, MY SOUL MATE (R Fourie), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily on the heels of TAXHAVEN (M K Katjedi), which rolled out. b) Jockey C Habib, the rider of EXPLOSIVE BOND, accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. c) In view of the performance of EXPLOSIVE BOND (C Habib), (distance 32,75 lengths, betting 8/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with BREEZE OVER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with BATTLEGROUND in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) TAXHAVEN (M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P F Matchett advised (MS).
