EN ROUTE TO THE START, PRESLEY (S KHUMALO) LIFTED ITS RIGHT FRONT SHOE WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRESLEY (S Khumalo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) APACHE SON (C Habib) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 200m, Apprentice K J Lihaba's (POCKET WATCH ) crop was accidentally struck from his grasp by Jockey S Khumalo (PRESLEY). b) APACHE SON (C Habib) hung out from the 300m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) TWO MILES WEST (J Penny) hung out in the concluding stages. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with PRESLEY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) KAMENSKY (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Magner advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PRESLEY not striding out left hind. b) APACHE SON examined post race, nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHED: a) NATYAM hoof abscess (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) DANCE KING under veterinary treatment (Veterinary certificate received) (Trainer) Rule 53.5 applies).
