THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MELA STRENGTH (A Arries) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AVIGNON (*B Plaatjies) and TRES CHIC (C Orffer) brushed on a number of occasions shortly after the start. b) Shortly after the start FLY TO RIO (C Zackey) was steadied when awkwardly placed between OZARK (L Mxothwa) and MONT LOISIR (R Fourie), which rolled out slightly. c) VERONIQUE (A Fortune) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. d) MELA STRENGTH (A Arries) was hanging in from the 400m and proved difficult to keep on a straight course. e) ISCHYRO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
