THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVER OPPOSITION (O Noach) was restless in the stalls. b) GREENLIGHT JET (J Solomons) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) THE NIGHT FERRY (A Fortune) over raced in the early and middle stages. b) After being slow to begin, GREENLIGHT JET (J Solomons) proved difficult to settle on the turn. c) THUNDER DOWNUNDER (*B Plaatjies) was hanging out in the straight. d) ROYAL DAWN (R Fourie) was hanging out in the straight and shifted out in the latter stages. e) DRICUS (C Orffer) was hanging out from the 350m. f) At the 50m DISTRICT MASTER (M Winnaar), which was hanging out, had to be steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the outside of FATHER CHRISTMAS (G Lerena). g) Apprentice B Plaatjies reported that THUNDER DOWNUNDER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) FATHER CHRISTMAS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
