Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED A) SANTA THERESE jumped outwards leaving the stalls. B) GREEN LIGHT GAL and CHILE JAM were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) GREEN LIGHT GAL (M V'Rensburg) pulled hard in the early stages. B) TWICE TO HEAVEN (L Mxothwa) raced wide without cover on the bend. C) When questioned regarding the performance of SANTA THERESE, Trainer A C Greeff and Jockey G Cheyne were both of the opinion that this filly had not enjoyed the blinkers that had been fitted for today's race. Trainer A C Greeff has undertaken not to race this filly equipped with blinkers in future engagements. D) Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 66.4 in that he as the rider of TWICE TO HEAVEN weighed back in (56.6 kg), in excess of 1kg over the weight at which he was declared out at (55.5 kg). In determining penalty, the Stewards considered Jockey L Mxothwa's poor recent record with regards to contraventions of this rule. A penalty of a R2000 fine was imposed. E) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning FREEDOM SEEKER (AUS) (*K A Brewer), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this mare is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer G D Smith was advised. F) The winner PHOENIX was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) SANTA THERESE raced equipped with blinkers (10:30 - 29/03/2022). B) PHOENIX raced equipped with blinkers (09:06 - 30/03/2022). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER A) TWICE TO HEAVEN Jockey L Mxothwa carried 0.5 Kg overweight, weighed out at 55.9 Kgs. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) FREEDOM SEEKER coughed post-race and unilateral epistaxis right hand side, 60 days suspension applies. B) GREEN LIGHT GAT fatigue. C) TWICE TO HEAVEN blood in mouth. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
