THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE, AS WELL AS MOUNTAIN HIGH (C ZACKEY) LIFTING ITS RIGHT FRONT SHOE, WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KEY NEWS (M K Katjedi) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) MOUNTAIN HIGH (C Zackey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the performance of KEY NEWS (M K Katjedi), (distance 9,70 lengths, betting 25/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) In view of the performance of ONE MORE STAR (P Mxoli), (distance 11,20 lengths, betting 33/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with ROYAL FORCE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning ROYAL FORCE , and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer Houdalakis was advised. e) CHOISAANADA (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Verdonese advised (MS). When questioned regarding the improved performance of CHOISAANADA, Trainer E Verdonese could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LEGENDARY was ridden by Jockey C Maujean (declared 11 May 2025 at 07H41). b) MOUNTAIN HIGH: Jockey C Zackey weighed out at 54,6kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) KEY NEWS abnormal respiratory noise. b) ONE MORE STAR not striding out left hind. c) ROYAL FORCE bilateral epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension.
