Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SIERRA SAGRADA (G Lerena) jumped inwards and brushed the front gate leaving the stalls, losing one length
b)	LOMU (R Fourie) jumped with its head up and was slow into stride.
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	DIAMOND DAYS (C Zackey) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.
b) 	In view of the performance of BIG DEAL (C Orffer), which proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages and was steadied shortly before the finish when awkwardly placed on the inside of DIFFERENT WORLD (L Mxothwa), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. 
c)	Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking ROLAND GARROS in front of the saddle leaving the 200m. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
d)	ROLAND GARROS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (SL)
