THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CRYSTAL MAIDEN (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) TOTHEMOONANDBACK (M Winnaar) jumped slow, losing one length. c) KWITE A KING (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Apprentice S Bungane rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) Approaching the 1500m SHOW OFF (R Fourie), which raced wide in the early stages, was allowed to race around runners and into a prominent position. c) At the 150m SHOW OFF (R Fourie) was steadied and directed inwards when awkwardly placed on the inside of the heels of SANSA STARK (*B Plaatjies), which shifted in sharply away from the crop and was immediately straightened. d) SANSA STARK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer K Snyders, acting on behalf of Trainer PAW Botha, was advised.
