THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE 30-MINUTE INTERVAL BETWEEN RACES. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BABY RED (J R Syster) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) STONE OF SCONE (S Moodley) and TOP SHELF TEDDY (L Mxothwa) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SAPPHIRE STORM (R Danielson) failed to muster speed on debut and trailed the field throughout. Thereafter, Jockey R Danielson reported that this filly took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey G Lerena (RACEWAY) did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. Thereafter, Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey C Habib reported that SHIMMERING made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) LIMERICK LACE (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Matthew de Kock advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) TOP SHELF TEDDY was ridden by Jockey L Mxothwa (declared 17 May 2025 at 11H37). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CHARLESTON DAWN raced with club colours (black with a blue cap). Trainer P F Matchett was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he did not have available the registered colours of the owner/s of CHARLESTON DAWN. Trainer P F Matchett signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500 was imposed. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SAPPHIRE STORM not striding out left hind. b) RACEWAY examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies.
