THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO BACCHUS (G LERENA) PROVING RELUCTANT TO PROCEED TO THE START AND HAVING TO BE LED BY A HANDLER. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KEY ELEMENT (P Mxoli) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) BACCHUS (G Lerena), LA MOOHAL (L Mxothwa) and ARTIST'S MODEL (C Murray) were slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BACCHUS (G Lerena) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer F P Habib was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) COMMAND PILOT (C Habib) over-raced in the early stages c) BACCHUS (G Lerena) hung in from the 300m. Race 8 contd. d) Jockey D Schwarz (THE FRONT LINE) did not persevere with his riding in the concluding stages. Thereafter, Jockey D Schwarz reported that this gelding took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) CLAW (*K J Lihaba), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Azzie advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BACCHUS was ridden by Jockey G Lerena (declared 17 May 2025 at 12H19). b) THE FRONT LINE: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 56,4kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
