Stipes Report
At the start COWDRAY PARK (S Hlengwa) kicked the rail, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Thereafter, during the loading process INDIGO ICE (G Wright) and ARISTOCRATIC (S Veale) refused to load and were subsequently withdrawn by the Starter. VICTOR HUGO (G Lerana) became restless, was released from the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. These incidents led to a delay to the start of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) INDIGO ICE (G Wright) and ARISTOCRATIC (S Veale) refused to load. b) VICTOR HUGO (G Lerena) lost 2 lengths. c) XIPHOS (D De Gouveia) and YEVAHN'S GLORY (D Daniels) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) YEVAHN'S GLORY (D Daniels) failed to muster speed on debut and trailed the field throughout. b) In view of the performance of XIPHOS (D De Gouveia) which tired rapidly from the 300m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey S Hlengwa reported that the saddle on COWDRAY PARK slipped backwards in running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. d) Apprentice D D Louw (GALACTIC LOVER) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to INDIGO ICE (G Wright), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 19.05.2025 to the 25.05.2025). INDIGO ICE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Assistant Trainer T Crawford was advised. (SL) f) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ARISTOCRATIC (S Veale), this colt's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 19.05.2025 to the 25.05.2025). ARISTOCRATIC may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer D Kannemeyer was advised. (SL) g) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning TRIPPING THUNDER, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. (Suspension dates : 19.05.2025 - 17.07.2025). Assistant Trainer J Buckler was advised. h) TRIPPING THUNDER (C Little), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting on behalf of Trainer G S Kotzen was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey S Veale was the rider of ARISTOCRATIC (advised 18.05.2025/07h31). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) TRIPPING THUNDER : Bilateral Epistaxis confirmed. 60 day suspension recommended. b) XIPHOS : Nothing obvious detected.
