Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SANDHURST (S Veale), AFRICAN MEMOIR (C Orffer), AYA'S DREAM (M Yeni) and BLUE STEEL (O Noach) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	AFRICAN MEMOIR (C Orffer) raced green.
b)	At the 200m BIRD ON A WING (C Little) was momentarily inconvenienced and was directed outwards away from the heels of MOUNT AUGUSTUS (JP van der Merwe), which showed a tendency to hang inwards and shifted in slightly. Thereafter, approaching the 50m, BIRD ON A WING (C Little) rolled inwards and had to be steadied when close to the heels of MOUNT AUGUSTUS (JP van der Merwe).
Jockey C Little appeared before the Board and was advised that while the Stewards accepted that he had been inconvenienced at the 50m, he still had an obligation to continue riding his mounts with at least hands and heels, to the line.
c)	In view of the debut performance of SANDHURST (S Veale), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
Jockey S Veale appeared before the Board and was advised that although this colt was out of contention for a place and had exhibited greenness, he is still required to ride all of his mounts to the finish with at least hands and heels, unless there is a veterinary reason which precludes him from doing so.
d)	Trainer SJ Snaith was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that MOUNT AUGUSTUS had been gelded. Trainer SJ Snaith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R 250,00.
e)	THREE TIGERS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix was advised. (WM)
