THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UNDERCOVER LOVER (K Steyn) and BECKY SHARP (S Veale) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, ROYAL LYTHAM (A Domeyer) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start, which had to be replaced. b) Approaching the 200m XPLICIT CONTENT (O Noach), which showed a tendency to hang out, rolled out and was brushed on the hindquarters by ROYAL LYTHAM (A Domeyer). c) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline B) in that he struck LOVERS LANE with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey G Lerena signed an admission of guilt and was given a warning. d) AVIGNON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer K Snyders, acting on behalf of Trainer PAW Botha, was advised.
