THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO SILENT TRIGGER (P STRYDOM) PROVING RELUCTANT TO PROCEED TO THE START AND HAVING TO BE LED BY A HANDLER.

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	NORTHERN KITTEN (J Gates) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	SILENT TRIGGER (P Strydom) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer B D Botes was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, he may be suspended.	
b)	AFTER HOURS (C Murray) and SNEAK PREVIEW (C Habib) over-raced in the early and middle stages. 
c)	In view of the performance of AFTER HOURS (C Murray), (distance 8,40 lengths, betting 17/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.	
d)	In view of the performance of SAIL THE SKY (M Yeni), (distance 8,65 lengths, betting 9/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.	
e)	Apprentice J Botes reported that ARCTIC VIXEN did not stride out freely in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 	
f)	UNSOLVED RIDDLE (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
