Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COULDITBE (S Naidoo), GOT THE FEVER (*N Nastili) and IN THE GREEN ZONE (M Yeni) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TREASURE HUNT recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer JP Nel was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) The start of this race was delayed due to the incident in the previous race. c) MEURSAULT (C Habib) was carried outwards slightly by CONCERTO (C Maujean), which shifted out away from the crop shortly before the finish. d) Jockey S Naidoo reported that COULDITBE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey S Naidoo appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to the reason he did not ride COULDITBE to the finish. He explained to the Board that as he started to exert pressure on this filly to urge her forward in the straight, she felt unsound behind and therefore he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. e) TREASURE HUNT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
