The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. 

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	ARVERNI KING (R Fourie) was stubborn to load. Trainer M J Odendaal will be advised to re-school this gelding. 
b)	BROADWAY GIRL (A Fortune) and TROIS TROIS QUATRE (C Murray) lost 1 length. 
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	DESTINY OF FIRE (M Yeni) over-raced in the early stages.
b)	At the 1400m WORLD OF OUR OWN (K Matsunyane) was steadied to avoid running onto the heels of QUEUE WING (*M Mbuto).
c)	Leaving the 150m ARVERNI KING (R Fourie) and QUEUE WING (*M Mbuto) came together and brushed. Thereafter, shortly before the finish QUEUE WING (*M Mbuto) was carried in by ARVERNI KING (R Fourie) which hung in from the 350m and rolled in marginally.
d)	Jockey A Fortune reported that BROADWAY GIRL did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer S H Ferrie will be requested to report back on the condition of BROADWAY GIRL upon return to stables.
e)	Apprentice J Botes reported that NOBLE CITY took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
f)	JOHNNY THE THIEF (M V'Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Ryan acting on behalf of Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (DZ).
