Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) INSTAWORTHY (G Wright) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start EIGHT HATS (P Mxoli) was bumped by COMIC RELIEF (T Godden) which jumped outwards. b) ELEGANTRIX (G Lerena) jumped out leaving the starting stalls. c) Approaching the 800m EIGHT HATS (P Mxoli) was bumped in by LIMITLESS SKY (C Habib) which commenced to hang in. d) WILD WILD GREEN (M Yeni) hung in from the 200m. Thereafter Jockey M Yeni reported that this filly compounded in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) ELEGANTRIX (G Lerena) was carried in and raced in restricted galloping room shortly before the finish when DIRECT HIT (R Fourie) which hung in from the 300m, shifted inward. Jockey R Fourie (DIRECT HIT) appeared before the Board and although the Stewards accepted that DIRECT HIT hung in, he was advised to take more timeous corrective measures to ensure that his mounts do not shift ground in races in future. f) The saddle on ONE FINE WINTER (C Zackey) slipped backwards in running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. g) In view of the performances of HIERARCHY (K Matsunyane) (12.85 lengths, 25/1 in the betting) and POLAR LIGHT (C Murray) (11.15 lengths, 125/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) DIRECT HIT (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A C Greeff was advised (DZ). i) ELEGANTRIX (G Lerena), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Spies was advised (SP).
