THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey A Fortune was dislodged from PINOT GRIGIO on parade without incident. PINOT GRIGIO cantered a short distance back to the parade ring, was reunited with his Rider and proceeded to the start. b) At the 1500m PINOT GRIGIO (A Fortune) was carried outwards for a short distance by WE HAVE TOUCHDOWN (C Zackey), which raced onto the heels of EXPRESS YOURSELF (S Veale) and shifted out. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that the bit on DUBBELOSIX, which was hanging out in the straight, pulled through this gelding's mouth at the 100m. d) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of DUBBELOSIX he misused his crop by striking DUBBELOSIX more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey G Lerena signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. e) AHEAD OF THE FACTS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
