Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL DAWN (A Fortune) was reluctant to load and jumped outwards. b) MOMENT OF TRUTH (M Winnaar) jumped slow, losing one length. c) GREENLIGHT JET (J Solomons) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start Jockey, A Fortune was momentarily unbalanced when ROYAL DAWN jumped outwards. b) COPPER PLATE (O Noach) had to be encouraged to hold his position in the early and middle stages. c) Jockey A Fortune reported that ROYAL DAWN, which was hanging out throughout and, as a consequence, raced wide on the turn and was not persevered with in the straight, took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performance of MONTICELLO (G Wright), which was ridden forward from the 600m and raced wide on the latter part of the turn and into the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the performance of PAST AND PRESENT (JP van der Merwe) (Betting 17/10; Distance 8.70 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ROYAL DAWN (A Fortune), Trainer MH Maingard will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) ARIOVISTUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
