THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start Jockey C Orffer expressed concern with LA DIVINA's action while proceeding to the start. This filly was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) ONI SAN (G Lerena) jumped outwards and made slight contact with KAMAKAZI (M Winnaar). c) DIAMOND BOMBER (S Veale) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As a result of the late withdrawal of LA DIVINA (C Orffer) (Betting 7/2), the start of this race was delayed to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets. b) MISS NEW YORK (K Steyn) and BRIGHT GOLD (A Fortune) made contact shortly after the start. c) KAMAKAZI (M Winnaar) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. d) BRIGHT GOLD (A Fortune) raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. e) Leaving the 100m, KAMAKAZI (M Winnaar) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the outside of DIAMOND BOMBER (S Veale). f) In the concluding stages DIAMOND BOMBER (S Veale) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed between GARDEN OF EDEN (C Little) and ONI SAN (G Lerena), which was hanging out in the straight and shifted out marginally shortly before the finish. g) SWIATEK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
