Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SWEETIE DARLING (C Little) was reluctant to load. b) HAVANA GREY (X Ndlovu) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. c) PROJECT RUNWAY (C Zackey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 800m, BASINGSTOKE (C Maujean) was awkwardly placed between SWEETIE DARLING (C Little), which shifted inwards and HAVANA GREY (X Ndlovu), which shifted out slightly. Thereafter, HAVANA GREY (X Ndlovu) and BASINGSTOKE (C Maujean) made contact on a number of occasions. b) SWEETIE DARLING (C Little), which shifted inwards from approximately the 400m and INDEBE MAYIBUYE (L Mxothwa), which shifted outwards from approximately the 200m, came together and brushed at the 150m. c) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that INDEBE MAYIBUYE changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that PROJECT RUNWAY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey C Little was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of SWEETIE DARLING he misused his crop by striking SWEETIE DARLING more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Little signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. f) Jockey C Little was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking SWEETIE DARLING in front of the saddle shortly before the finish. Jockey C Little signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. g) SWEETIE DARLING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised.
