Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MASKED VIGILANTE (R Fourie) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls. b) ROOMFORMANOEUVRE (S Khathi) stood awkwardly in the stalls and was slow into stride. c) TRAVEL MASTER (K Minnie) and GUARDING THE WALL (MK Katjedi) jumped awkwardly. d) FOUR JACKS (S Naidoo) was slow into stride THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BEECHAMWOOD BOY (X Ndlovu), which was hanging in from the 800m, was corrected at the 400m and thereafter commenced to shift outwards away from the crop until the finish. Jockey X Ndlovu appeared before the Board and was advised to put his crop away when his horse is shifting ground. He was further cautioned with regards to the manner in which he used his crop over the final 75m of the race. b) GUARDING THE WALL (MK Katjedi) was hanging in from the 400m. c) FOUR JACKS (S Naidoo), which was awkwardly placed between ABOUND (*B Plaatjies) and BEECHAMWOOD BOY (X Ndlovu), had to steady momentarily and was switched in to obtain clear running at the 200m. d) Apprentice B Plaatjies (ABOUND) dropped his crop at the 200m. e) ROOMFORMANOEUVRE (S Khathi) was awkwardly placed and had to steady momentarily between GUARDING THE WALL (MK Katjedi) and ABOUND (*B Plaatjies), which shifted outwards at the 100m. Apprentice B Plaatjies appeared before the Board and was advised to correct his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion in similar circumstances. f) Jockey C Maujean reported that STRANGE MAGIC did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this mare on her return to the stables. g) SONG OF MYSELF, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised.
