THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SEATTLE RAIN (S Sosibo) was stubborn to load. b) LEMON THYME (S Moodley) was restless and fly-jumped leaving the stalls, losing 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) RUN FOR PEACE (M Thackeray) hung in from the 300m. b) Leaving the 200m LEMON THYME (S Moodley) was carried in by CONCORDIA (K Matsunyane) which hung in from the 400m and was corrected. c) Apprentice J Botes reported that LIGHTINTHEDARKNESS took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performances of LEMON THYME (S Moodley) (8.45 lengths, 8/1 in the betting) and ROY'S GRACE (S Khumalo) (7.75 lengths, 66/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Apprentice M Mbuto signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2., Appendix E, (Guideline 3), in that he mis-used his crop by striking CANYOUDOTHEHULA forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Accordingly a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) CHERRY OH BABY (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
