THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE, PASSAGE OF POWER (S KHUMALO) HAVING TO BE RESADDLED AT THE START AND TSAR BOMBA (C HABIB) BEING SUBJECT TO A LATE VETERINARY EXAMINATION. 

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	CHYAVANA (G Lerena) and BANFF (C Murray) were slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	At approximately the 600m, TSAR BOMBA (C Habib), which commenced to over-race, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of HALBERDIER (P Mxoli).
b)	In view of the performance of JURY'S OUT (*K J Lihaba), (distance 7,95 lengths, betting 33/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	In view of the performance of CHYAVANA (G Lerena), (distance 8,55 lengths, betting 25/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.	
d)	Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with PASSAGE OF POWER in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 	
e)	Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with TSAR BOMBA in running.

f)	Shortly before the finish line, BIOFARMER (M van Rensburg), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between BOB'S YOUR UNCLE (C Zackey), which rolled out marginally, and WARM WINTER NITE (K Matsunyane), which was carried in by CALLMEWHENUNEEDME (*G Samo-Burthia), which commenced to hang in. 
g)	BANFF (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
