Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LITTLE PIAF (D Daniels) and MISS TWINKLE (S Moodley) were stubborn to load. b) VINNY'S DREAM (C F Dicken), EMMAS PALACE (J Jacobs) and CAPRICIOUS MISS (G Lerena) lost 1 length. c) OH GOOD GOSH (D Schwarz) lost 2 lengths and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) As the start was effected MISS TWINKLE (S Moodley) was bumped by DREAM DECISION (S Veale) which jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls. b) LITTLE PIAF (D Daniels) raced green and hung out from the 800m. c) EMMAS PALACE (J Jacobs) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. d) Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with OH GOOD GOSH in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) LUCIENNE was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 12h31 revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer Puller was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 12h41 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 38 mmol/L. Consequently LUCIENNE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 12h49, 11/2 in the betting). f) ARE YOU SURE (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (DZ).
