THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NOON DAY GUN (D Ashby) got its head into the adjacent stall and had to be corrected. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) UNITED NATION (S Veale) over raced in the early stages. b) Jockey M Yeni felt something amiss with FIBONACCI and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. FIBONACCI (M Yeni) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J de Villiers) c) In view of the performance of KELP FOREST (A Domeyer), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH in front of the saddle at the 100m. Jockey C Zackey signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. e) INDUSTRIALSTRENGTH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised.
