Stipes Report
DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, NAZARE (*K J LIHABA) BECAME RESTLESS AND BROKE THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE STALLS. THIS GELDING WAS RESTRAINED BY THE RIDER, RETURNED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, DECLARED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, KYLIE'S ANGEL (*N Nastili) kicked the back gates, resulting in NAZARE (*K J Lihaba) becoming restless and breaking through the front gates. Trainer C Dawson to be advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement. b) KYLIE'S ANGEL (*N Nastili) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) DANCING DORA (*G Samo-Burthia) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ORIENTAL BOUQUET (C Maujean) fly-jumped and made contact with PHALA MILLIONS'S (M K Katjedi) hind quarters. As a consequence, ORIENTAL BOUQUET (C Maujean) lost momentum and gave ground to the field. b) Leaving the 300m, GOLDEN ASPEN (M van Rensburg) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the heels of CAPTAIN EFFICIENT (G Lerena), after being carried in by GIMME A STORM (*S Valjalo), which commenced to hang in and was straightened. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that CAPTAIN EFFICIENT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey J Gates reported that PACIFIC did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) JET CAT (J R Syster), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H van der Westhuizen advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) JET CAT: Jockey J R Syster weighed out at 53,9kg, 1kg over the carded weight Stipes permission as Jockey J R Syster was unable to make the carded weight due to an issue with the sweat box.
