Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVAN MISTRESS (R Fourie) was stubborn loading. b) FARAWAY GIRL (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls. c) FREE TO RUN (MK Katjedi) jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) DARLINGBUDSOFMAY (C Little) and VINO RIOJA (M van Rensburg) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FREE TO RUN (MK Katjedi), which jumped slow, refused to gallop, shifted outwards towards the running rail. Thereafter, this filly did not respond to her jockey's urgings and raced detached from the field to the finish. b) SILVAN MISTRESS (R Fourie) shifted both ways away from the crop from the 300m to the finish. c) A Jockey representative approached the Board with concerns regarding a patch on the course at approximately the 1000m. The Board contacted the Track Manager to address these concerns. An undertaking was taken by the Track Manager to stamp the area concerned and level it in an attempt to avoid further complications. A second concern, with regard to the gusting cross winds, was brought to the attention of the Board. The Jockeys were advised to race one off the rail and allow each other space to avoid any unforeseen situations which may arise. d) SILVAN MISTRESS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
