THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UNITED FRONT (S Veale) was reluctant to load. b) FAST AND FREE (G Wright) was slow into stride. c) ERIC LIDDELL (M Yeni) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start ROYAL CLINTON (D Ashby) and DIAMOND DAYS (C Zackey) made contact. b) GOLD GIBOSKI (G Lerena) raced green on the turn and was hanging out in the straight. c) DIAMOND DAYS (C Zackey) raced wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight. d) Jockey JP van der Merwe (LOMU) briefly dropped his left-side rein at the 150m. e) Jockey D Ashby reported that ROYAL CLINTON felt uncomfortable in its action. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the debut performance of FAST AND FREE (G Wright), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding UNITED FRONT (S Veale), Trainer VH Marshall will be advised to have this colt re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. h) An investigation has been opened into the reason JANNEMAN WAT KAN and LOMU were not in the parade ring fifteen minutes before the start of Race 1. i) STAR MAJOR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
