THE STARTER REPORTED: a) POURSOMESUGARONME (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the 1000m MAVERICK QUEEN (C Habib) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of AMONG THE CLOUDS (A Fortune) which rolled in marginally and on the heels of HAPPY FORTUNE (R Fourie) which was steadied outwards in anticipation of being awkwardly placed between the heels of CHELSEA FLOWER (S Hlengwa) and the inside running rail. b) Apprentice M Mbuto reported that the saddle on LITTLEBLACKGEM slipped back in the running. This was confirmed by the video evidence. c) Apprentice J Botes (MISSISSIPPI SPICE) accidentally dropped his crop at the 350m. d) In view of the performance of AMONG THE CLOUDS (A Fortune) (7.60 lengths, 3/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer J S Snaith will be asked to report back on the condition of AMONG THE CLOUDS on return to stables. e) THE QUEEN BEE was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 16h13 revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer Whitehead was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 16h24 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 38 mmol/L. Consequently THE QUEEN BEE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 16h35, 16/1 in the betting). f) POURSOMESUGARONME (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey C Zackey (SHESHA NTOMBI) weighed out at 55.2kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
