THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SALT LAKE CITY (C Murray) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GOLDEN OPERATOR (C Zackey) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) IN THE WILLOWS (C Habib) raced wide around the turn and into the straight, thereafter tired badly from the 400m. b) GOLDEN OPERATOR (C Zackey) shifted out away from the crop from the 300m and thereafter commenced to hang out in the concluding stages. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) TOMMY SHELBY (J Gates) hung out from the 200m. d) CAPTAIN CARNAGE (*K J Lihaba) commenced to give ground to the field from the 200m. e) WINCHESTER (P Mxoli) hung out in the concluding stages. f) COPPER EAGLE (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
