Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	DARLING GIRL (K Minnie) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	GARDEN SUN recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b)	The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race.
c)	GLOBAL SPEAK (C Zackey), which was hanging in from the 600m, was corrected at the 250m and thereafter Jockey C Zackey did not persevere with his riding. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
	Jockey C Zackey reported that the bit pulled through this gelding's mouth and he was unable to assist his mount from the 200M. This was confirmed on the patrol film.
d)	At approximately the 100m, PARDON ME (L Mxothwa) shied away from HENRY'S HEDGE (R Fourie), which was hanging in from the 350m. 
e)	Jockey C Maujean reported that STORMSTRIDE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
	Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. 
f)	Apprentice I Taka was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on CANFORD'S BEAUTY, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Apprentice I Taka signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00.
g)	Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on DARLING GIRL, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500.00.
	In considering an appropriate penalty, the Board took into account Jockey G Wright's record with regards to contraventions of this Rule.	
h)	HENRY'S HEDGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (LM)
