Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GEORGE HANDEL (*I Taka) and CHERE FOR ME (C Little) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FUJISAN (*N Baboo) shifted out without incident at approximately the 1200m and subsequently refused to take the bend and raced wide without cover on the turn. Apprentice N Baboo appeared before the Board and was advised to ride his horse in such a manner so as to ensure that they do not cover unnecessary ground where circumstances permit. b) ARLU (MK Katjedi) was cramped for galloping room and had to be checked for a number of strides off the heels of REACH FORTHE STARS (S Naidoo), which shifted out slightly and FAMILY POWER (C Zackey), which was hanging in and shifted inwards leaving the 250m. The Stewards had reason to interview Jockeys MK Katjedi (ARLU), C Zackey (FAMILY POWER) and S Naidoo (REACH FORTHE STARS) regarding the incident that occurred at the 250m. After questioning the respective Riders, it was established that ARLU (MK Katjedi) was carried in by FAMILY POWER (C Zackey), which was hanging in and consequently had to check to avoid the heels of REACH FORTHE STARS (S Naidoo), which shifted outwards away from the crop and was immediately straightened. The Riders were advised that while there were circumstances surrounding this incident, they are obliged to ensure they keep their respective mounts on a straight course and take the necessary corrective measure when their mounts commence to shift ground. The Riders were advised that a charge would not be preferred against any individual Rider as the dual movements involved in this incident had a bearing on the extent of the interference that was suffered by ARLU (MK Katjedi). Mr M Katjedi was spoken to regarding the quality of the evidence he provides to the Stewards when he is required to report to the Stewards Boardroom. c) FAMILY POWER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) CANFORD QUEEN raced with a compression mask and blinkers (declared 16h12 on 20250624) b) C Little (CHERE FOR ME) rode +1kg of which 0.5kg was carded (58.4kgs) c) L Mxothwa (FLOWER FESTIVAL) rode +0.5kg (57.9kgs) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ANCHOR MAN - mouth injury THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
