EN ROUTE TO THE START, FRANCINE (G LERENA) CAST ITS LEFT FRONT SHOE WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FAMOUS LADY (C Zackey) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, making contact with the left-side front gate. b) FRANCINE (G Lerena) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) An inquiry will be opened to establish why QUEEN OF LOVE (P Strydom) had to ease in the concluding stages. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that FRANCINE changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Maujean reported that HAPPY MO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey M K Katjedi reported that BLIND AMBITION changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) MISS HANNIGAN (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MS).
