Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISS PRIOR (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) SPOIL YOURSELF (*H Moosun) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, PITON DE NEIGE (MK Katjedi) was bumped inwards by SWISS PARADISE (L Mxothwa), which was bumped by KOMESANS PASSION (Y Ramzan), which was in turn bumped inwards by JET SET RUN (S Fortune), which jumped awkwardly inwards leaving the stalls. In this incident, the hindquarters of SWISS PARADISE (L Mxothwa) were turned inwards. b) Leaving the 600m SWISS PARADISE (L Mxothwa) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of FULL OF MAGIC (*N Nastili), which shifted inwards slightly. Apprentice N Nastili appeared before the Board and was advised to be more aware of runners to his inside when shifting ground in order to obtain a better position on the bend. c) SPOIL YOURSELF (*H Moosun) shifted outwards away from the crop and thereafter continuously shifted out without correction from the 300m. Apprentice H Moosun appeared before the Board and was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to keep his mount on a straight course, without covering unnecessary ground. d) At approximately the 200m JET SET RUN (S Fortune), which was hanging in and was corrected, was bumped by FULL OF MAGIC (*N Nastili), which was hanging in from the 250m. Thereafter, Apprentice N Nastili reported that FULL OF MAGIC changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey A Fortune's (SMASHING) riding in the concluding stages will be reviewed. f) Jockey C Zackey reported that SWEET JULIA did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. g) In view of the performance of MISS PRIOR (C Maujean), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. An Inquiry will be held with regard to Jockey C Maujean's (MISS PRIOR) riding in the latter stages. Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. h) PITON DE NEIGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised.
