THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) TENJIKU (C Habib) and CHARMING CHEETAH (K Matsunyane) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Approaching the 800m ARISTOCRATIC (C Zackey) was eased momentarily and directed out when close to the heels of TENJIKU (C Habib) which rolled in. c) Jockey W Kennedy reported that MILITARY COMMAND changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) The Stewards have opened an Inquiry into an incident in which CHRONICLE KING (M Yeni) was bumped on at least three occasions and carried inwards by TIN PAN ALLEY (S Khumalo) which improved on the inside of ELEGANTRIX (G Lerena) at the 300m and then what ensued with severe interference to TIN PAN ALLEY (S Khumalo), ELEGANTRIX (G Lerena), COUNT OF ROUEN (S Moodley) and CHARMING CHEETAH (K Matsunyane). e) In view of the performances of ELEGANTRIX (G Lerena) (7.80 lengths, 4/1 in the betting) and INTENSITY (M V'Rensburg) (5.60 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) CHRONICLE KING (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Dawson was advised (SP). g) MALMESBURY MISSILE (R Fourie), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
