Race 1: GARDMED AMBULANCE SERVICE WORK RIDERS MAIDEN PLATE (For Maidens)

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SALAGADOOLA (+H Tsewu) refused to proceed to the start and was led, riderless, by a Handler to the 150m, at which time Work Rider H Tsewu remounted this filly. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised that although this was his first run with this filly, he is advised to reschool SALAGADOOLA to be tractable to procced to the start in terms of Rule 93.2.4.
b)	EPIC THUNDER (+S Tutu), WELSH STARLET (+J van Niekerk) and DARLING GIRL (+L Thanda) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	AMERICAN EAGLE (+A Gwadiso) was slow into stride. 
d)	BHAVAROOPA (S Nqoloba) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths and was slow into stride. 

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	SALAGADOOLA (+H Tsewu) was hanging in from the 300m.
b)	WELSH STARLET (+J van Niekerk) was switched sharply inwards to obtain clear running at approximately the 300m.
c)	In view of the performance of WEARINGOFTHEGREEN (IRE) (+X Jacobs), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 
d)	Work Rider S Tembani (MONOCLE) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the manner in which he rode his mount in the latter stages. 
Work Rider S Tembani was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider MONOCLE, he failed to ride MONOCLE out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Work Rider S Tembani signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended for one (1) Work Rider's race.
e)	Work Rider S Nqoloba (BHAVAROOPA) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the manner in which he rode his mount in the latter stages. 
Work Rider S Nqoloba was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider BHAVAROOPA, he failed to ride BHAVAROOPA out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Work Rider S Nqoloba signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended for one (1) Work Rider's race.
f)	Work Rider E Thuthu (DUCHESS OF SEVILLE) appeared before the Board and was advised that even though he had obtained 4th place, he is obligated to ride with sufficient vigour and determination so as to leave no room for query from the Stewards.  
g)	Work Rider M Ntunja (RUBY CLAIRE) appeared before the Board and was advised to keep both hands on the reins and ride across the finish line before making any celebratory gestures.
h)	Trainer JVA Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.3 in that he failed to have AM STILL WINNING vaccinated against African Horse Sickness in accordance with the program of vaccination as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer JVA Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
i)	RUBY CLAIRE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM)
