The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race and due to the late Veterinary scratching of ANDY COOGLE (S Moodley) at the start. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey S Khumalo reported that HENRY HARVEY took an awkward stride at the 200m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) In view of the performance of AXIS POWER (C Murray) which raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and tired rapidly in the concluding stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) FUTURE VARIETY (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Fripp acting on behalf of Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised (DZ).
