THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	Fair start.	
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Leaving the 400m POMP IT UP (JP van der Merwe) had to be steadied when tightened for room between MOODY BLUE (G van Niekerk), which raced awkwardly and shifted in and CITY OF PORT LOUIS (C Murray), which shifted out. The Stewards interviewed Jockeys JP van der Merwe (POMP IT UP), G van Niekerk (MOODY BLUE) and C Murray (CITY OF PORT LOUIS) with regard to this incident and after hearing their evidence, were satisfied that a charge against either Jockey G van Niekerk or Jockey C Murray could not be sustained. However, both Riders were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
b)	Leaving the 200m DIAMOND BARON (M Yeni) was directed out and into clear running. 
c)	Jockey G van Niekerk reported that MOODY BLUE took an awkward stride in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
d)	Apprentice B Plaatjies reported that he felt something amiss with FLEUR DE VILLE and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. 
	The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer PAW Botha will be advised. 
e)	In view of the performance of RARE ONYX (G Behr), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
f)	Trainer PAW Botha was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate CITY OF PORT LOUIS against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer PAW Botha signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00.
g)	AFRICAN MEMOIR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer WA Nel was advised. (TJ)
