Stipes Report
During the loading process INDIGO ICE (S Hlengwa) proved stubborn to load and after numerous unsuccessful attempts was withdrawn by the Starter. This caused a delay to the start of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) INDIGO ICE (S Hlengwa) refused to load. b) BLAST FROMTHE PAST (C Little) lost 1 length. c) CANNATONIC (*D Pillay) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SOVEREIGN COMMAND (T Godden) hung in from the 400m. b) SOVEREIGN COMMAND (T Godden) and LITTLE CRACKER (J Jacobs) brushed shortly before the finish. c) In view of the performance of VENCEDOR (C Murray) (5.15 lengths, 14/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to INDIGO ICE, this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable on a race day with a companion. Suspension dates: 17.07.2025 to the 23.07.2025. INDIGO ICE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Assistant Trainer T Crawford was advised. e) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that he as the rider of GOTTA GO EDDIE misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (16) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R10 000. f) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline 3), in that he mis-used his crop by striking GOTTA GO EDDIE forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Jockey Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000. g) Jockey T Godden was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline 3), in that he mis-used his crop by striking SOVEREIGN COMMAND forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Jockey Godden signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000. h) BLAST FROMTHE PAST (C Little), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G S Kotzen was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey T Godden was the rider of SOVEREIGN COMMAND (advised 15.07.2025/11h26). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) VENCEDOR : Nothing obvious detected. b) SOVEREIGN COMMAND : Returned post-race having cast the right front shoe. SCRATCHINGS : a) BINGO : No transport (Trainer - 15.07.2025/14h53). b) DARE TO TRY : Sore back (Trainer - 16.07.2025/07h47).
