Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING'S COLOUR (O Noach) was slow into stride. a) QUICKSMART (*B Plaatjies) jumped slow, losing one length. b) TIME HONORED (L Mxothwa) jumped outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start QUICKSMART (*B Plaatjies) was bumped by KING'S COLOUR (O Noach), which was carried out by TIME HONORED (L Mxothwa), which had jumped outwards. b) SIRIANO (G Lerena), which showed a tendency to hang out, raced in isolation in the middle of the racecourse from the 700m. c) The Stewards questioned Apprentice B Plaatjies (QUICKSMART), Apprentice S Bungane (USA DANCER) and Jockey R Fourie (WORLD WARRIOR) regarding an incident that took place at the 100m in which QUICKSMART (*B Plaatjies) had to be steadied away from the heels of WORLD WARRIOR (R Fourie). After hearing the evidence presented and reviewing the patrol films, the Stewards established that during this incident USA DANCER (*S Bungane) had shifted outwards slightly, which had a bearing on this incident as this resulted in WORLD WARRIOR (R Fourie) being brushed on the hindquarters by QUICKSMART (*B Plaatjies). While the Stewards accepted that they could not proceed to a formal charge against any Rider, Jockey R Fourie (WORLD WARRIOR) and Apprentice S Bungane (USA DANCER) were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. d) Apprentice S Bungane (USA DANCER) appeared before the Board, in the presence of his Riding Master, and was shown the patrol film of the concluding stages. He was advised that the Stewards were mindful that he had just returned from serving a suspension after being found guilty of not riding his mount to the finish. Apprentice S Bungane was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts to the finish with sufficient vigour and purpose so as to leave no room for query. He was advised that his riding had not resulted in him losing a placing on this occasion but that the Stewards found it necessary to draw his attention to this matter. Apprentice S Bungane was further cautioned regarding the quality of his evidence that he provided when being questioned and that he is required to seek assistance form his Riding Master to ensure that this aspect is improved upon. e) Jockey C Orffer reported that NOMORE BULLETS changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the performance of MOUNT AUGUSTUS (JP van der Merwe), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) NOTE TO SELF, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) C Orffer (NOMORE BULLETS) rode +0.5kg (57.8kgs) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MOUNT AUGUSTUS - examined post-race.
