THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LYRICAL SUMMER (C Habib) jumped awkwardly and lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ON SONG (A Mgudlwa) pulled hard in the early stages. b) LYRICAL SUMMER (C Habib) which raced green on debut, commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. c) PEACE ROSE (C Murray) and BLONDE BOMBSHELL (K Matsunyane) raced green. d) LIGHT OF GABRIEL (*B Plaatjies) raced green and hung out in the concluding stages. e) Jockey J Gates did not persevere with his riding from the 350m and thereafter he reported that CHEER ME ON did not stride out freely in the running. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey C F Dicken reported that THIRD WINTER took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) In view of the performance of LOVE THE USA (*M Mbuto) (6.80 lengths, 11/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) TULIP FIELDS (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
