THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FULL GO (J R Syster) was slow losing two lengths. b) CALLABURN (C Maujean) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) In view of the performance of HAT FURIOUS (R Danielson), (distance 7,40 lengths, betting 14/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) In view of the performance of CIRCLE OF GRACE (*T Mayhew), (distance 8,70 lengths, betting 7/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with SNEAK PREVIEW in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer M N Houdalakis was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of SNEAK PREVIEW on return to stables. d) KISS OF FIRE (*G Samo-Burthia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P P Labuschagne advised (SM). When questioned regarding the improved performance of KISS OF FIRE, Trainer P P Labuschagne explained to the Board that the tactics for today were to give this mare a more patient ride compared to its previous runs. This accounted for the improved run and Trainer P P Labuschagne has undertaken to adopt similar tactics in races in future. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) KISS OF FIRE raced with a cornell collar (declared 7 December 2023). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HAT FURIOUS examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) CIRCLE OF GRACE cast its left front shoe in running c) SNEAK PREVIEW examined post race, nothing obvious detected. d) KISS OF FIRE moderate post race distress.
