Stipes Report
ROYAL VICTORY (P Stydom) refused to canter to the start despite the assistance of the lead pony and the handlers allocated to assist. ROYAL VICTORY was subsequently withdrawn for delaying the start. This led to the lengthy delay to the start of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SEE IT AGAIN (K De Melo) was stubborn to load. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ROYAL VICTORY (P Stydom) refused to canter to the start. This gelding was subsequently withdrawn for delaying the start. Trainer N Kotzen was advised that, in terms of rule 93.2.4, this gelding is suspended until such time as it proves tractable whilst cantering to the start, with a companion on a race day. Trainer N Kotzen will be advised. b) THE REAL PRINCE (C Zackey) was accidentally stuck on the noseband by Jockey C Murray (DAVE THE KING) at approximately the 200m. c) Approaching the 50m DAVE THE KING (C Murray) which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of THE REAL PRINCE (C Zackey) which commenced to hang out from the 150m and shifted out. Thereafter in the concluding stages GLADATORIAN (S Veale) was brushed by SEE IT AGAIN (K de Melo) which rolled out away from THE REAL PRINCE (C Zackey). d) In view of the performance of DAVE THE KING (C Murray) (2.95 lengths, 9/4 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey S Veale's (GLADATORIAN) crop use in this race. f) GLADATORIAN (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S H Ferrie was advised (SP). g) THE REAL PRINCE (C Zackey), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer was advised (NS). h) SEE IT AGAIN (K de Melo), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
