Upon arrival at the start GURKHA (C Zackey) was subject to a late Veterinary check and was subsequently withdrawn. Time was taken to allow the public to restructure their bets. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) GLOBAL MOVEMENT (R A Venniker) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Jockey M V'Rensburg (DEPUTY CHIEF) accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. c) HARUN AL RASHID (S Veale) hung in from the 500m. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that RUN FOR COVER did not stride out freely over the final 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of HARUN AL RASHID (S Veale) which was not persevered with in the concluding stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this gelding is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. f) In view of the performance of MY BOY LOLLIPOP (C Murray) which was not persevered with in the concluding stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) LUCKY DOLLAR (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
