THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHEETS AND GOGGLES (*J Botes) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) SI VELOCE (*W Fourie) was slow losing two lengths. c) HOTARU (K A Brewer) and ROYAL HORIZON (J Penny) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SI VELOCE (*W Fourie) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) ROYAL HORIZON (J Penny) was baulked for a clear run from the 300m to the 150m and thereafter was switched in to continue its run. c) In view of the performance of SHEETS AND GOGGLES (*J Botes), (distance 7,75 lengths, betting 5/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey M K Katjedi reported that THE NAVY LARK did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) ROYAL HORIZON (J Penny), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H van der Westhuizen advised (AH).
