Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHEAP THRILLS (MK Katjedi) and AMIOK (*N Nastili) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h07) b) GLOBAL SCENE (C Little) jumped outwards and made contact with PRESERVE FOREVER (W Agrella) shortly after the start. c) Shortly after the start, VINO RIOJA (G Wright) was allowed to shift ground towards the outside of the course, raced wide around the first turn, raced prominently approximately ten lengths ahead of the field and compounded at approximately the 200m. The Board has adjourned to review Jockey G Wright's use of the crop in the latter stages. d) FREE TO RUN (X Ndlovu) over raced in the early stages. e) AMIOK (*N Nastili) over raced in the early and middle stages. f) WELSH STARLET (S Khumalo) and DARLING GIRL (C Habib) were hanging in in the latter stages. g) Apprentice N Nastili reported that he felt something amiss with AMIOK. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. h) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on FREE TO RUN, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. i) PRESERVE FOREVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
